Ryan Barkley, President, MSc Geology - candidate
Ryan made the decision to pursue a geological career in 2014. He received a BSc (Geology Major) from Brandon University and currently is a master’s candidate (MSc) at Lakehead University where he is doing research on a structurally hosted Archean gold deposit in the Michipicoten Greenstone Belt. Through this time Ryan has worked on projects in N.W.T (gold), Minto Metals (Copper) and Hudbay Exploration (VMS). These experiences have helped solidify and confirm that exploration and mining is a great fit.
Prior to that, Ryan worked in Canada’s oil and gas industry from 2004-2012, as a roughneck, derrick hand and driller, through a time period of the highest price per barrel of oil in history. This experience gives him a distinctly unique, hands-on skill set that can be applied to the exploration industry. In 2013, Ryan was employed to a Canadian company working in Mexico for Pemex, where he was a driller and trained local employees.
